PAST

Our next issue is Past. We are looking for creative and critical work that responds to the past in any form. Personal memory. Family history. Forgotten places. Ruins. Archives. Lost media. Myth. Folklore. Deep time. Inheritance. Nostalgia. History. Permanence.

What refuses to disappear?

What lives inside of you? What have you remembered? What has shaped collective memory? What deserves to be remembered? What should be forgotten? Which histories have been erased, rewritten, or left unfinished? What objects, songs, photographs, buildings, rituals, or symbols seem to carry weight? How does the past continue to shape the present?

Emma Kay, Worldview (1999)

We are looking for poetry, short fiction, essays, visual art, music writing, fashion, manifestos, experimental work, and fragments of thought.

No publication history is required. No qualification is required. If anything here generates an idea, follow it and send it in.

Show us memories, excavations, ghosts, or reconstructions.

Help us build an archive of remains.
